Inspired by the iris of the eye - oculus meaning “eye” in Latin - this piece is part of the Oculus series.

The Oculus series is deeply personal and marks the beginning of my journey as a full-time artist. These were the first paintings I created with the intention of exploring whether I could fully dedicate myself to art. It became my very first series and the foundation of my artistic expression.

The works were presented in the exhibition “An Artistic Explosion”, shown at Galleri Hamnkrogen in Kalmar during the summer of 2022.

The series will later be followed by a continuation in a new body of work.

Within the piece, the bird wings symbolize freedom - a recurring theme representing courage, movement, and the ability to rise beyond limitations.
